Slow Days at Home

We love slow days at home! The boys enjoy spending time outside in the leftover sand, on the trampoline and working with Daddy.

Trey welded our new dog pen for Fletcher. Last weekend my parents brought him back to us after watching him for a year. Fletcher seems to like his new pen, and William has taken to him very quickly. Trey did a great job on the pen. He has many hidden talents!

Trey and the boys planted a red oak in our front year last weekend. We are just about to start getting our front yard put in. I see a lot of labor in our near future.

We welcomed in the the new year with family friends. We have decided that 2012 is going to be a bit slower than last year. Hopefully, we won't be starting any new jobs or building another house.

This morning I helped host a baby shower for my friend Joanie. She is expecting twins in a few months. In this picture are a few friends from high school.

Christmas Decorating

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. It is hard to believe how quickly our new house has felt like home. I just feel so comfortable here.

We gave in and bought our first artificial tree. No one told me how much work an artificial tree is when setting it up. Trey had to help put it together. Next year, we are going to put up this tree and buy a small real tree. I have to have the smell.

Thanksgiving 2011

We hosted our first Thanksgiving in our new house. It was so nice to stay home for the holiday. We were able to have a little time to settle in. My parents brought our deer back from their house. They were nice enough to store them while we were in our rental. Westin kept petting them and calling them puppy.

William was so proud of himself for making the fruit salad.

We have a large rock pile in the back yard. These three monkeys had hours of fun climbing on it. Luckily, no one get hurt.

This is a picture of Shay and I around 9pm on Thanksgiving night. We went shopping from 9pm to 9am the next morning, and covered San Marcos, New Braunfels, Garden Ridge and San Antonio. I am pretty sure we were delirious by the time we got home.

Trey and I taking a moment to celebrate pulling off Thanksgiving after moving in the week before. Trey literally moved our whole house over and I arranged it once it all got in. Friends and family also pitched in to help us get it done. Our garage is still a mess, but we'll get it done.

Last night was the lighting of downtown New Braunfels. This event is the start of the Christmas festivities in New Braunfels. I am looking forward to all the fun of the holidays with the boys.

We officially moved in last week. I feel for people who move a lot. It sure is a lot of hard work, but well worth it. We were up until about 3:30am the first few nights trying to get out stuff moved in. The kids have adjusted very quickly. Westin and William have been sleeping well and enjoying all the extra space. In the picture above they are climbing in the storage closet.

Halloween Fun

A few weeks ago William went on his first field trip to the pumpkin patch. This was his first time to ride a school bus and he loved it. I drove behind the bus with my friend Kristal.

Driveway has been poured. I took William and Westin to the house to "try" to get their handprints. The concrete guys helped me start over 3 times. I don't know what I was thinking doing this by myself. Westin was not loving the wet concrete. It actually turned out ok when it dried.

Kitchen is very near completion. Backsplash, lighting and plumbing are now in.

Beams were installed this week too.

We are almost done!!!! I can't wait. We should be moving in some time the second week of November. Just a few more weeks.

Fall Fun

We ventured out to get pumpkins a couple of weekends ago in Bracken. Westin enjoyed his first hayride and William enjoyed riding the train. I always look forward to our annual trip to the Bracken Pumpkin Patch.

William has been so excited since he hot his new motorized train set. A friend of mine from work gave it to him after hearing about his love of trains. Her son had outgrown the set and was happy to pass it on. I assured them that it would get good use. He loves it!

William had his 4th Birthday Party in George West at his Aunt Shay's house. This year he wanted a Hot Wheel's chocolate cake.

This year William's actual Birthday was on our Fair Day. We met up with some of his friends and spent the morning at the Comal Fair. He had a great time!

William would only sit on the John Deere tractors. His Great Grandfather would be proud. In this picture he is with his friend Jamie.

Trey built William and Westin a rock box at our new house for their birthday present. It has been so nice to have something for them to play with when we go out to the house almost every day. Westin loves to fill his dump truck with rocks...over and over again!

It is so hard to believe that my baby has just turned 1! We celebrated William and Westin's birthday's at Aunt Shay and Uncle Tom's house. Westin now has four teeth and is still a very fast crawler. He is adding more words to his vocabulary, and is still a very easy baby. He likes to clap, give the touchdown sign, cover his eyes for peek-a-boo, blow kisses, and show us his pretty eyes. I am so thankful that he is still very cuddly and baby like. I am not rushing anything.

Westin licked some of the icing off his cake, but really didn't dig into it. He did manage to have fun, and make a pretty big mess.

Westin turned 11 months old this week. You can see his first two teeth in the bottom picture. He is still crawling everywhere and going easy on Trey and I. He is now trying more table food and hasn't seemed to dislike anything. His latest trick is copying what we say in baby language. He can say bye bye, night night, baba(bottle), dada, ball and duck. His first birthday is right around the corner, and I am not sure how the year went so quickly.

Today, Trey and I took William to Freiheit Elementary to meet his pre-school teacher. He has two teachers and three aids in his class and so far we only know Mrs. Tate's name. His friend Reed was in the class last year and will hopefully show him the ropes this year. The teachers were very welcoming, and he already wants to go back to play with their train tracks:)

Weekend at Lake LBJ

We just got back from a fabulous weekend at Lake LBJ with Jenny, Ryan, Walker and Clark Frisbie. We can't thank them enough for sharing their lake house with us.

Westin's 10 Month Football Picture

Westin turned 10 months yesterday, and this has been a month full of changes. He is now about to crawl anywhere in the house very quickly. He has gotten his first tooth, tries to copy most sounds that we make, pulls up on any and everything, and actually plays in William's room with him. I appreciate how tolerant William is of Westin. He already watches out for him and protects him where ever he is. Westin is still a great eater and sleeper. As long as he has food he is pretty much good to go. He has always been such a cuddly little boy. When I put him down to sleep at night I hand him his soft lovie and he wraps it in his arms to go to sleep.

Westin has become mobile this month. He is now able to travel around the house very quickly.

House Update July 2011

Stucco is almost done.

I really haven't changed many things in the house from the original plan...with the exception of the tub. The one I had designed on the plan was a little too boring. Beau and I came up with this design, and I really like the way it turned out.

Plumbing, electrical and gas lines have all been installed. This is a picture of the boy's bathtub.

Top floor is painted and complete.

Shingles are almost completed installed.

We had a great July 4th weekend. We spent one whole day furniture and ceiling fan shopping with the kids. They held up for the first few hours but, by the last store they were done! We also went swimming one evening and I took these pics of the boys. William and I also went to watch Cars 2 and William loved it. After the movie he asked my how long it was until Christmas because he thinks he needs to get a couple of the new cars. I have accepted the fact that the popularity of Cars is never going to die down around our house.

I am so excited that these two are starting to play together. I am hopeful that they will grow-up to be the best of friends.

Westin has been drug all over the place picking out stuff for our house. He spent a whole day in San Antonio picking out counter tops and all the tile for our house. He is very laid back ;)

These two are troopers. Here we are on one of our daily trips to our house. We are so blessed two have two boys that, for the most part, go with the flow.

Westin is now 9 months old. If you look closely in this picture you can see that he is starting to get some curls on the back of his hair. He is now able to crawl on all fours, give kisses, pull-up on the couch and his bed. He is still a good sleeper and eater.

We have just gotten back from a beach trip with the DeWitt Family to Port Aransas. Kristal's parents let us use their beach house and we all had a great time! William is ready to go back....

The kids played so hard each day in the sand. They just couldn't get enough. William would still be there if we hadn't made him get in the car.

Last Day at Cooper Day School

William has been going to Cooper Day School two days a week this year. Ms. Liama, his teacher, was very kind and welcoming all year.

William's class made him a very nice book with a decorated page from each of his classmates.

William was full of smiles as we left on the last day.

William will be attending a full day program in the fall. He may find out that it sure was nice getting to school at 9:00 am.

Trip to George West

William spent the week in George West attending swimming lessons with Mimi. We were very excited with his progress. He spent one night with Aunt Shay, one night with Gram and one night with MiMi. He did great! I missed him so much and got down there as quickly as I could on Wednesday. He is getting to be such a big boy.

William will now jump off the side and swim to us. I am working on filming him swimming. It seems I am always in the water with him or holding Westin.

Westin 8 Months Old

One of William's favorite things to do in George West is take a ride on the mule at Aunt Shay and Uncle Tom's house. We were "hunting" for rabbits. Thanks for the tour Caroline and Kate.

Westin Turns 8 Months Old

Westin turned 8 months old today. He is still mister easygoing. He has started rocking more on all fours and will occasionally scoot towards objects. He is really into kicking things and rolling everywhere. William is a great big brother who can very easily entertain Westin. We are so thankful to have this precious child in our family. He loves to eat everything he can get his hands on, and without fail he will fuss whenever he finishes eating to let us know that he wants more. He does spit-up much like William did at this age. He is currently weighing in at 17 pounds and is 29 inches long.

10 Year Anniversary

Today is our 10 Year Anniversary, and I still feel just as fortunate to have married Trey today as I did back then. These years sure have flown by. When we got married we were on our honeymoon and we said we would come back to Aruba for our ten year anniversary. They say God laughs every time you make a plan. He's laughing today. We feel very fortunate to be building our house and that is exactly what we spent our time looking at on our anniversary. We almost make it out to look at the progress every evening. This evening was especially fun since we were able to walk the second floor. There actually weren't any stairs so I scaled the wood like the framers do (with a little boost from Trey).

Day 1 of Framing - We were shocked to see how quickly they got the walls up on the first floor.

This morning Trey and Bart placed this metal beam through the ceiling of our garage. The beam was inserted to add extra support for the second floor. I was very impressed with Trey's ability to maneuver the extending forklift.

Trey decided to help the framers out by using the forklift that he already had to rent for his beam. In this picture Trey is setting the glu lams in on top of his beam.

The framers were speaking Spanish, but I could tell they were quite happy with how well all of the huge pieces had perfectly fit together.

This was such an exciting moment. This is a picture driving up the morning of the pour.

William and I went to witness the concrete pour early Wednesday morning. We both enjoyed seeing the lines of concrete trucks making their deliveries. Unfortunately, Trey had a meeting that he had to attend in Austin.

Westin 7 Months Old

Westin turned 7 months old today. Yesterday he sat up by himself for the first time, and today he got his legs up under him and pushed off. He was attempting to get to one of William's cars and everyone was so excited - with the exception of William! Today I took Westin with me to a wedding shower and to a friend's house for a celebration party and he was a delightful companion. He now weighs a little more than 16 pounds, and he will eat anything he can get his hands on. He is long and skinny.

Building Our House

I think William is enjoying the building process. Actually, we all are. Currently, the plumbing is being installed in the ground. We are projected to pour the concrete next Friday. This will be a very exciting day for Trey and William since they are planning on spending the day watching the concrete be poured.

At Westin's last check-up his pediatrician said it was time to introduce the sippy cup. I told her that there is no way that he is old enough to be ready for a sippy cup. I have a feeling that I will be babying him forever. He is 6 1/2 months old in this picture and it was his first time to "drink" from a cup. He was soaked when he was finished with it.

It is hard to believe that my baby is already 6 months old. He still such a good eater and sleeper. He is still rolling all over the place and hasn't found any fruit or veggies that he doesn't like. He sleeps from 9:30 at night until 9 in the morning and then takes 3 naps during the day. He seems to really like to stick to his routine. It is very easy to get him to smile and he hardly cries at all. I love it when he an William are riding in the car and William makes Westin start laughing. So cute!!!

Many Changes

We have officially closed and have said good bye to Shield Drive (very sad moment for me). Trey and William were just fine with the move. William says he likes our rental house more than our old house ;)

Our next adventure is building our home that has been in the planning stages for a few years. Trey and I laugh about the idea of actually seeing the house that we have conceptualized for so long actually be built. We should be pouring the slab in the next couple of weeks. We are looking forward to staying in this house for many years and having our family settled.

Spring Break 2011

Since we spent most of the week settling into our rental I asked William what he would like to do for his special day. He picked the NB Children's Museum and we had a great time. William tells us that he likes the rental more than our old house. I think I was the only one who was very sad to leave. Trey met the new owners today and they were about our age and he said they even kinda looked like us. They have 3 kids and the women said she fell in love with the house the minute she saw it. I was so glad to hear this. This house has meant so much to me and I am glad to know that another couple with kids were moving in and that they loved it like I did. We officially close Monday evening and the new owners will close Tuesday morning. Life is a good kind of busy at our house, and we are truly thankful for all of our blessings.

Westin 5 Month Football Picture

Westin turned 5 month olds this week. He is now rolling over both ways, and can roll across the living room. He has begun to put his hind legs under him and started getting closer to the crawling position. Next week we are moving to a rental duplex and the floors are stained concrete. I am currently on the lookout for more rugs so Westin can learn to crawl on a soft floor. He has also gotten good at eating his first veggies and fruits. So far he seems to like them all.

Things have been very busy around our house lately. We signed a contract on our house Friday and are currently looking for a place to rent. It is a bitter sweet moment for the Moffatt Family. We have been in our house for 9 years and two babies. We are excited about building the new house and know that once it is all done it will be worth the move. Luckily, the boys are doing well when we take them to look at doors, stone, etc.

If you look really close you may be able to spot some of the snow that was leftover this morning. William got all bundled up to go explore the back yard. It was about 27 degrees when this picture was taken. It took Trey over an hour to get to work. School was cancelled so the boys and I cuddled in bed until about 10am. Simply a great day!

Westin turned 4 months old today. He is still a very easygoing baby. He is smiling a lot and is very easily entertained. We have his 4 month check-up this week and we will know how much he has grown. He seems to be getting longer, but not much heavier. He is just delightful!

2010 was a very exciting year for our family. Westin has been such a blessing and we are all looking forward to the excitement that is sure to come in 2011. We are going to sell our house, move to a rental and start building on the land we have now had for 4 years.

Westin Turns 3 Months

Westin is now 3 months old and is simply a joy. He is cooing and smiling more when we talk to him. He won't go back for a check-up until he is 4 months old, but he sure seems to be outgrowing his clothes quickly. The last few nights he has been sleeping about 10 hours straight. We will just have to wait and see if he keeps this up. H is just growing so quickly...I love the baby stage.

This is the first time William has actually enjoyed opening presents. He always likes his presents, he just never liked to open them.

There are a few things I have decided about having two kids. 1. I can't control everything 2. I can clean most stains out of clothes 3. I must cherish every smile - they sure grow-up fast!

Westin turned two months old today. He is now smiling when we talk to him, he is also cooing and is sleeping on average 7 hours in a row at night. He is such a sweet little boy and I just keep falling more and more in love with him each day.

Storyfest in George West

We went down to George West for the day last weekend to attend Storyfest. The weather was absolutely perfect for the annual festival. For those of you all who do not know, George West is the Storytelling Capitol of Texas. William enjoyed all of the unique animals in the petting zoo. He told me he was feeding "a huge dinosaur" in this picture.

Trey stayed at my parent's house with Westin so that William and I could spend a little one on one time together.

Westin's 1st Playdate

My friend Jenny came over last week with her two boys. As you can see in this picture both big brothers are very proud and helpful! From left to right we have William, baby Westin, Walker and baby Clark.

William and Walker found ways to keep themselves busy in the playroom while Jenny and I got to visit. Luckily, no one got hurt.

Westin and Walker were born ten days apart and I look forward to all the fun that all of our boys are going to have in the future. Wish us luck!

Westin is one month old and is starting to be more alert. He has started to get better at sleeping at night and is now starting to be awake more during the day. At this point, I would describe his personality as easygoing. He is such a delight to have.

Last weekend we had Westin's baptism at St. George Catholic Church in George West. This is the same church where Trey and I got married and where William and I were baptised. It was a very special day and I am so thankful for all of our friends and family that shared this day with us.

When all was said and done all that mattered is that William had a great day with his friends. Today at school my wonderful office team hosted a baby shower for Westin and me. It was nice to spend the time celebrating such an exciting event with so many caring people. The second picture is a picture with a hand drawn piece of art with Westin's name on it that my art teacher made and the specials team gave me. Very thoughtful gift and our art teacher is truly amazing. I was driving home from work two days ago (listening to the new Brad Paisley song, Anything Like Me) and I think it finally hit me that at anytime I will be having my second child. This time around I can honestly say I am more excited than anxious. I can't wait to meet Westin!

Mr. and Mrs. Tubb (my boss and her husband) gave William his birthday present a little early and I have to say they are quite a success. In the cube are two African Dwarf Frogs that are fascinating to watch. These are William's first official pets and I think they are a perfect start. They only need to be fed twice a week and cleaned every 3 months.

Westin's Nursery

Westin's nursery is complete. Well, almost we just need him to arrive. I still have about 5 weeks left until he is projected to be born. We are all so excited to meet him and I am finally realizing that my house will never be quiet again. I always said that I was made to raise boys and now I will actually get to find out if that was all talk or actually true. All I know is that I am excited to find out.

First Day of Preschool

William went to pre-school for the first time today. No tears were shed by William - a few by Mom of course. He will be going two days a week and this seems to be just fine with him. He said he had fun and he is ready to go back. The teacher's first words about him were that he talks a lot :) He is just growing up so fast and I sure wish I could find a way to slow it all down.

His cast came off last Friday and life is much better for all of us. The doctor was able to compare the x-rays and pinpoint where the fracture had been. She said it now appears to be completely healed and he is now good to go. He hasn't slowed down since he got it removed - we are glad to have our active William back.

July 2010

William started off the month of July with all kinds of swimming and outdoor activities. Unfortunately, his cast has slowed him down a bit and now we are becoming more creative with our outings. The train ride at Landa, family movie watching, ice cream and eating at his favorite restaurants are some of the ideas we have been trying out since the cast arrived. He is now able to walk with the cast and this has made things a little better. He still asks each day if he can get it off. Luckily, it will be taken off on Aug. 13th. He is a trooper and we are doing everything we can to help him through this frustration.
